Tsunami Sushi - Minneapolis

I was informed by a friend that Tsunami Sushi is opening in the old azuki Sushi spot near the University of Minnesota campus. The azuki ownership moved back to New York and a couple of the sushi chefs from Saji Ya in Saint Paul are opening up in the same location with a new menu. I'm hoping they will still have the New Orleans roll. I will check it out this weekend and report back with more information next week.

I used to go to Azuki once a week and was very sad when they closed :( But so excited that a new sushi place is opening on campus

azuki was a favorite spot to grab take out on the way home from work. I hope the prices and service at Tsunami are in line with azuki's.

Has anyone been there? I can't find any info online and would like to know if it's any good/hours of operation...

They are open. I haven't checked it out yet. I thought I would give them a week or two to get organize first.

Tried it last weekend. Excellent rolls and soup.

Good to hear. Were they well staffed? Any beer or wine?

Food is excellent, prices are inline with Azuki's. Beer and wine should be comming in a month or so as they just applied for their liquor license. Its exactly what Dinkytown needs - Sushi!

The sushi was very good, prices inline with Azuki and staffing is decent. The menu has some great items that aren't sushi oriented. They should have beer and wine in the next two months as they just applied for their liquor license.

Great stuff!

I've had Tsunami twice now. The first time the service was slow, unprofessional and the fish was NOT fresh. I decided to give it a second try tonight and order their take out service. I was told 30-40 minutes and showed up after 35. I waited an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes, was not given an apology and as I realized when I got home, half of our food was not in the bag. If you are a sushi lover at all or even just appreciate please do not go here. It may be a convenient location on the U of M campus but Kabuki, Kikugawa or Fuji Ya are ALL better options and worth the 15 minute drive.
